Park Avenue Armory Hosting TEFAF New York

TEFAF produces one of the world’s leading art fairs held annual at Maastricht, Netherlands. TEFAF has set the standard by which collectors, connoisseurs, curators and art enthusiasts around the world view and purchase art. Their Annual Art Market Report offers essential insights on art market performance.

Now, TEFAF has joined with Artvest to create a unique fair in New York this fall. Taking place from October 21-26 at the Park Avenue Armory, TEFAF NY Fall 2016 is shaping up beautifully. They have 93 participating exhibitors who have been chosen by a panel of eight judges.

Included in the line-up are: Blumka Gallery, Carolle Thibaut Pomerantz, Dickinson, Didier Aaron, Elle Shushan, Erik Thomsen Gallery, French & Company, Haboldt Pictura, Hirschl & Adler Galleries, Jack Kilgore & Co., Les Enluminures, Phoenix Ancient Art, Taylor Graham and many others.

The set up will be in the Armory’s landmark building which includes the Wade Thompson Drill Hall and then extends to both the first and second floors of the Armory’s period rooms. Tom Postma Designs has developed the designs for the fair that offer spectacular exhibition spaces while offering a contemporary look and feel.

Phoenix Ancient Art has explained, for instance, that they are centered their antiques around the theme of objects inspired by the Pantheon in Rome. Their exhibit space will be made to look like the Pantheon as well. As co-owner of Phoenix Ancient Art, Hicham Aboutaam explained to Art Fix Daily.

“I never miss an opportunity to visit and experience the Pantheon whenever I am in Rome. The inspiration of this domed temple, a unique masterwork of architecture, lies not only in its perfect form and unparalleled preservation, but also in the embodiment of the spirit of the Classical world seen in all of its ancient glory — all the more remarkable as it is still visible in our own time.”

At the opening night reception galleries such as Carolle Thibaut Pomerantz, Dickinson, Didier Aaron, Elle Shushan, Erik Thomsen Gallery and Phoenix Ancient Art will certainly be in attendance, and the beneficiary will be the Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering.
